Amala Cancer Hospital and Research Centre was established in 1978 as a nonprofit,
charitable institution aimed at treatment and management of Cancer in Central Kerala. Over
the years Amala has grown to become one of the major voluntary tertiary level hospital in
India having modern diagnostic, therapeutic and research facilities to combat Cancer and
other ailments. This 550 bed hospital complex is unique in having three principal systems
of medicine namely Allopathy, Ayurveda and Homeopathy in the same campus. We are handling
an average of 4,000 new Cancer cases and 6,000 Cancer inpatients in an year. The centre
manages 35,000 Cancer outpatient visits yearly.

The institution was formally inaugurated on April 25, 1978 by the then President of
India, Sri.Neelam Sanjiva Reddi.. The Institution is an excellent example of public and
governmental participation in a productive venture. The governmental support is firm and
steadfast, starting from the lease of major share of land and grant for capital
procurement. The success story of the Institution is always backed up by donations from a
great number of patrons and institutions within and outside the country.

The hospital complex was situated on the slopes
of the Vilangan Hills, spreading over a 40 acre campus, 8 kms. West of Trichur Town,
overlooking State Highway. The nearest airport is at Cochin, 78 kms. away from the
Hospital.

Kerala Cancer Society is the Sponsors of the
